‘Gardens on Structure’ are complex spaces that combine ecological benefits with an elegant aesthetics. Work on the Royal Caribbean ships Oasis and Allure of the Seas and on the Celebrity Solstice-class ships included unique cutting-edge landscape engineering analysis and testing as a part of the overall design effort.

Using everything we know about design on land and applying it to a moving structure at sea, with its own maintenance and weight issues, was the challenge we addressed.

As an integral member of a very talented team, Dennis Dale provided the overall ‘site’ grading and drainage, the design of park structures from planter walls and bollards, to pergolas, and ‘information kiosks’ that hid emergency smoke evaluation vents.

Our work also included the design of bridge and restaurant railings, the main entry sign, vine towers, a variety of park benches, paving design and planting, and landscape engineering analysis and testing as a part of the overall design effort.
